Sims Plastics, a division of Sims Group, is a major recycler of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic scrap, specialising in high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polypropylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP). It has recycling operations in Sydney and Melbourne.
Sims Plastics works closely with government departments and industry to recycle plastics previously seen as an environmental concern, such as agricultural plastic film and plastic silage used to package hay.
Plastic is granulated, washed, blended and then extruded into specification bead-like pellets. The pellets are then sold as a raw material to be used in the production of new agricultural plastic film, plastic bags, automotive battery cases, agricultural drainage pipe and a range of other products.
