Sims Pacific Metals is the largest metal recycling business in New Zealand having 10 branches operating throughout the North and South Islands.
North Island
Auckland is the major centre of operations with two non ferrous branches and one for ferrous metal recycling. The various grades of non ferrous materials are sorted, processed and packed to international specifications and are made available for sale to the domestic and international markets.
The Ferrous metals are processed via an 80 x 104 H.D. Texas Shredder, or by La Bounty / Genesis shears. Output from this ferrous yard provides feedstock for the Electric Arc Furnace of Pacific Steel, a Fletcher Building subsidiary, with any surplus tonnage being exported.
Other North Island branches in Hamilton, Napier and Wellington trade and process both Ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
South Island Christchurch is the major centre operating a Lindemann 1250 HP shredder for processing ferrous metals. The various grades of non ferrous materials are sorted, processed and packed to international specifications and are made available for sale to the domestic and international markets.
Other South Island branches in Nelson, Dunedin and Invercargill trade and process both Ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
