Sims Recycling Solutions has made a commitment to be the
market leader in the innovative recycling and recovery of
consumer goods. Demonstrating this commitment, we were the
first operator of a dedicated static fridge recycling plant
in the UK and further capital investment has consolidated
our position as UK market leader, taking our annual recycling
capacity to 750,000. Our technology exceeds the UK legal
requirements for the safe disposal of Ozone Depleting Substances
(ODS) and betters levels achieved in mainland Europe. We
can guarantee a fully audited process that maximises recovery
rates at competitive costs, for the domestic and commercial
markets.

The Service
The fridge
recycling plant
uses world leading
technology to fragmentise domestic and commercial fridges
within a sealed environment so that Ozone Depleting
Substances can be safely removed for destruction. The
remaining materials are separated mechanically into
individual product streams including steel, non-ferrous
metals, plastic and foam. These products are marketed
drawing upon our expertise in the secondary materials
markets. The result is high recovery and recycling
rates, working to best environmental practice with
a cost efficient process.
Our specifically built commercial fridge breakdown facility
allows us to reduce large commercial fridges, in an environmentally
sound manner, to a size compatible with our fridge recycling
plant giving us the ability to cope with a wide variety
of fridge sizes.
We additionally partner with Social and Community Groups
in order that refurbishment of fridges, where possible
can be undertaken, so that they can be re-used as high
quality, low-cost appliances.
