Sims Metal has several large shredder sites where ferrous metals are processed to specification, separated and upgraded. These are strategically located to serve customers and our export markets via dock sites.

The Process
The Sims Group operates a continuous improvement programme at its shredder sites dedicated to maximising yield of ferrous materials through the plant. This development also stretches into the separation of non-ferrous metals to maximise returns from our Dense Media Separation plant. For the future, ongoing research and development is also investigating how to develop recycling and recovery rates for non-metallic materials separated through the shredder plant.

In short we are aiming to achieve the highest recycling and recovery rates possible. This maximises the recyclable materials we recover and so we are able to pass our savings onto our customers and partners ensuring that they achieve maximum revenue from their ferrous and non-ferrous waste materials.
